Kelly Clarkson

Release Week Wrap Up and Other Ramblings

Oh my goodness...We have had the best couple of weeks EVER....where to even begin? We finished the US tour with Kelly Clarkson/The Fray/Carolina Liar on Saturday (the 15th) in Nashville, TN. This was especially fun for us since we live in Nashville--nothing like ending a tour on your home turf :) And for realsies...we have never had more fun on a tour. We have been fans of The Fray since their first record came out, so every night you would see at least one or both of us side stage soaking up their show. Not only is their music heart-felt and catchy as anything--they are such nice, genuine people. Long talks over catering or scheming the next fun outing will be memories that will last. We are pumped to start the Australian leg of the tour with them tonight! Then there is Carolina Liar....these boys are just the sweetest, most fun people you'll ever meet! They brought such a level of energy & enthusiasm to ANYTHING we did. Whether it was watching them play a show & getting the crowd super pumped or playing basketball in the back of a venue parking lot in the middle of the night...you wanted to be around them cause you'd always be smiling. Seriously...those guys are THE BEST. Love them.

These boys are the greatest.

Okay...so that was the end of tour. The next day we had our album release show, but before the show we showed up at some of our "Thanks To You" contest winners' new digs & played them some songs...it pretty much was a blast...and they had yummy cookies & birthday cake fudge. Life changing. Later that evening was the show at Rocketown. This was such a HUGE day for us. We have been working on Heart of Stone for over a year and we could not believe that the day had come where we were in our home town, playing our release show! The evening was SO MUCH FUN. So many people came out. It was so nice getting to say hi to each of you who came out...you seriously have no idea how much it means to us that people would spend their time/money to support what we do. It was a magical night.

The next day was the Heart of Stone listening party...this was especially a fun night because so many of our international friends were able to be a part of the evening too...(even if that meant waking up in the middle of the night!!!!)...via Ustream online. Even our parents tuned in :) The party was complete with GiGi's cupcakes with our faces on them...cute little popcorn bags and other fun treats. Our friend John hosted the evening and we got to talk about how the record was made, why we wrote certain songs...we even ended the night playing Skinny Jeans live. Woop woop.

Listening party cupcake fun.

Gift bags!

Decorations!

Blurry but excited j&k!

Our host for the evening...our good friend John. Sorry ladies...he's married to our bestie Jenny.

Then it happened. TUESDAY ARRIVED. SEPTEMBER 18th, 2012. Heart of Stone was officially released to iTunes & other distributors. A really fun surprise for us was that our album reached number 39 on the iTunes Pop charts. That was insane...just absolutely insane. And that is all thanks to YOU for buying the album, tweeting it, telling your friends...we seriously could not have made this record without your support. We played a StageIt show at noon so that we could play/say hi/give lots of love to our international besties. BUT, the very best part of the day was that we got to spend a lot of it Skype chatting with more contest winners (we even got to play a Skype show in a high school class room (#FSHS wooohoooo) & playing another house show that evening with the final "Thanks to you" contest winner...they also had yummy brownie/cookie cake treats for us. So delicious. It was amazing to see some of you & thank you for being awesome & for your support.

Our amazing friend acting manager/does everything and anything we need Will showed up release day morning with these!!!

#39 on the POP charts....WOOHOOO!

So then we had Wednesday at home to pull ourselves together and pack for LA, Australia & the UK. Literally...it looked like a bomb had exploded in our house. Clothes everywhere. Hadn't even unpacked from the last 6 week tour...hahaha...it was a disaster. But we managed to pull ourselves together...pack & wake up the next morning at 4:30am to fly to LA to meet up with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to play a little show at one of their locations in Hollywood. This might have been one of our favorite shows...we were outside, the weather was amazing, a bunch of you showed up (even though the timing couldn't have been worse in Los Angeles 5:30pm :( )and we got to drink endless Coffee Bean drinks. YES. It was amazing. We haven't played a j&k show in LA for a long time so it was so super great to meet you guys and discuss how amazing Coffee Bean truly is. Plus, we got to see some of our SoCal friends & eat sushi...which is ALWAYS a plus.

Leaving Nashville.

Cannot be in LA without a stop at In-n-Out :)

Our dear friends & LA loves...Robert & Nico.

Then the next day we flew to the land down under...skipped an ENTIRE day to get here...but we made it & couldn't be having a better time. The weather has been amazing. Their coffee is killer--they have a precious little drink called a flat white...not sure what's in it but it rules. Yesterday a few of us went and cuddled with koalas & kangaroos...yes...that statement is true. It was so fun. We play our first show tonight with Kelly & The Fray & soon to be new pal Sarah De Bono. Let the good times roll!!!! (Jill didn't go on the koala/kangaroo adventure so Kate is not being picture hog...haha)

Kate & a koala--her name was Trace.

Kangaroo was just chilling.

Kangaroo waving!

Feeding a kangaroo!

Stop it will all of the koala cuteness. Baby & mama.

Hope everyone is feeling good today...we are in the future right now...and it's looking good.

Lots of love...

5 Years.

February 18th, 2007

February 18th, 2012

You know how sometimes on a certain day you wonder...what am I going to be doing 5 years from now? Well...we had that moment last week. We realized that on February 18th, 2007 we played our very first show with Kelly. We were in Florida at the Daytona 500...no big deal....just 250,000 thousand people were there. Flash forward 5 years and we were in Orlando, FL performing with Kelly at Universal Studios--one of the stops on the Stronger Tour.

It's crazy that we have been working together for 5 years!!!! Wowza! Even more rewarding than just working together has been the friendship that we've made with Kelly and the other band/crew members. Serisously. We have all laughed together, cried together, learned songs together...we are family. And for that we are so blessed & thankful.

We cannot say enough good things about what an amazing experience this has been. All of the people that we've met, the friends we've made, the insane memories we've captured in our hearts...it truly has been amazing :) We have learned SO much & are still learning.

Fun to look back over the past 5 years.

Yay.

Happy Work-a-Versary Kelly!

Dancing Queens

Okay, so as you may or may not know, we recently got to make our debut dance performance in a music video. Oh it's true. We, along with the rest of Kelly's band, got to not only perform, but dance in the "Stronger" video that just came out. What a blast. It was probably the most fun video ever! The whole band learned the dance routine and we all put our best foot forward in the flash mob scene at the end of the video. Check it out!

"Stronger"

Just singing our little hearts out.

Happy-excited-face.

Big Hair in Boston.

We played in Boston tonight and it was oh so much fun. Jill's fam came to the show. Our friend Meghan came to the show. We saw lots of lovely Bostonian faces in the crowd...it was spectacular. There were delicious cookies with Kelly's face on them. It doesn't get much better. Plus, Ashley got a hold of us and made some magic happen with our hair. No really, look for the magic in our hair? Here are some pics from the evening:

Who knows what fun we'll get into tomorrow in NYC.

Yeah.

Birthday SHoutout!

Well, we wanted to wish our dear friend Kelly a HAPPY BIRTHDAY on our blog. Not only is she super-duper talented, but she is also a ridiculously awesome friend. She is trustworthy, listens and always takes the high road...quality people...straight up quality. Our friendship has seen lots of things:

Gondoloa Rides in Italy

Cold weather on the streets of NYC waiting to see Patty Griffin

Warm sun of the beaches of St. Tropez

Hotel room somewhere in the world

In our Christmas PJ's on the bus:

And if all of that doesn't speak for itself, we have stood together on the FRIENDS stage and that will make us FRIENDS for life.

Love you lots.

A few more answered questions.

Who cooks in the house? -Leea I'm gonna have to say me. Kate. I love cooking. It's therapeutic for me in a weird way. I don't get to do it often because we aren't ever home, but I love the sense of control I have being able to do it myself. I may or may not be a control freak at times. I love it though. Chopping everything up. Watching things sizzle. Yup. Good times. My mom is a ridiculously good cook...she's the best. When my friends and I would come over to my house for a break in college she'd have fresh baked cookies ready and put chocolates on our pillows. No joke. My mom is incredible. I can't say enough good things about her.

How did both of you meet? -Michelle

We met at a music program (The Contemporary Music Center) during college in January 2003 in Martha's Vineyard, MA. One of these blogs we will give you the whole spiel...Schpeeeel if you will.

What place are you most looking forward to visiting in 2010? Where do you go on vacation? Whats your favourite word? -Jason

Kate: I don't think I have one specific place I'm most looking forward to visiting...there are so many great things about all the places we are going :) I've never been to New Zealand though and am pretty excited I get to see it. I hear it's like heaven. I'll let you know. Home is where I like to go on vacation...haha...when you are gone so much, sleeping in your own bed and making coffee in your own kitchen can be the best vacation ever. But when I like to get away I am very much a tropical girl. Hawaii, somewhere in the Caribbean....give me a beach, some chips & salsa and a frozen fruity drink and that's pretty much the description of the most perfect vacation...oh and a good book of course. I don't think I have a favorite word. Hmmm...nope. Don't think I have one...if ever I find my favorite word I'll be sure to blog about it.

Jill: I love Australia. I always have fun going there so I think that is where I'm most looking forward to going this year. Kate was right. Home is the BEST place for vacation...whether it be Nashville-home or New Hampshire-home where I grew up. Okay okay, if I must pick a REAL place, I loved Maui when I went there a few years ago. My favorite word is: AWKWARD. I love spelling it out. I love words. I love palindromes and weirdly spelled words and everything to do with words.

Did either of you have a crush on Zack Morris (Saved By The Bell) or was A.C. Slater more your type? :) -Amy

Such an original question....well done Amy. Definitely Zack Morris. Come on. No contest. -kate

Did any girl NOT have a crush on Zack Morris? A.C. Slater was cool, but Zack is...i mean WAS my definite crush. -jill

Any beauty product must haves for you two? Is Kelly really a cool, down to earth person like she seems? -Stephanie

Beauty products...umm...concealer, some eye liner and some lip gloss can do wonders in under 5 minutes. True story. We have to wear so much make-up for stage that on off days we generally don't wear a lot of make-up or any for that matter :) Yes, Kelly is unbelievably kind, brilliant, normal, super funny--we are honored to sing with her.

What is the one thing you most enjoy doing when you are on the road? -Jennifer

Kate: I love taking pictures out on the road or taking little videos. It's a great way to document all of the things we get to do--sometimes I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday so I think it'll come in handy in 50 years to have some pics and videos to remind me of what went on back in the day.

Jill: I love to steal Kate's pictures because I am not so good at documenting. :) Also I read a lot, watch TV series, and write for fun. Oh, I mean...party so hard...yeah. Haha no...we are not really party hard people. There are cool people on the road too so it's fun to hang out with everybody.
